Indecisive Quarantine

Hey y’all!

So for those who have’t noticed yet, I have the hardest time making up my mind. Which as I’m sure you’ve noticed, means that I’ve changed the look and feel of the blog again, lol.

I don’t mean to keep screwing with you guys, but I just hadn’t found the perfect color scheme or design before. But….I think I’ve found it now. I like the basic colors and how it just looks so much more relaxing than when I was trying to use bright colors and make everything stand out at once.

Hopefully you guys love it too! If you’ve been wondering where all the crazy posts about our family have been, don’t worry we’re still here! I’m hoping those posts will be coming back soon. COVID-19 really put our fun summer and basically our entire lives on hold since everything closed down and now it’s just too cold to really get outside, especially with David.

But….we’ve been making some fun plans for this upcoming Spring and Summer, so if everything is back open and running like normal then I’ll have some amazing [and probably hilarious] stories for you guys!

Until then though, I hope you guys are equally enjoying the more informative “lifestyle” posts I’ve been attempting to share, and the few funny stories and rants I’ve been letting out as a Stay-At-Home mom in quarantine with a toddler and infant.

I love you all and appreciate the patience and love you’ve been sharing with us during this whole quarantine time. I can’t wait to have more amazing stories to share!

I Think We Found What We Want

Hey guys!

So I think Andy and I have found the perfect space to buy and turn into our forever home! The property we’re in love with isn’t for sale right now, but we’re hoping we can figure out a financial plan soon and give them an offer that convinces them to sell it anyway.

It’s an industrial space right now, and currently zoned for commercial use. But we’re hoping that we can get it rezoned for multi-use (commercial and residential) and remodel the basement into a home for us. We want to keep the upstairs area for commercial use for Andy’s work.

I had seen the outside before, but today was my first time actually going inside and seeing how big it really is. It doesn’t look anywhere near its actual size from the outside. But y’all…to say I instantly fell in love with the building is a COMPLETE understatement.

We are looking into taking the space off-grid as much as possible (ideally, completely), so we’re looking into alternative power sources (a normal power bill would be OFF THE CHARTS every month).

I’m also working on the initial letter to send the property owner that will show them our interest (without making us seem overly excited) and convince them to sell to us. However, we are including a contingent that we only will go through with buying the property if we get approved to rezone it like we need to. That contingent is the only thing that makes me nervous. I know from friends (and quite a few T.V. real estate shows) that properties with contingents don’t usually sell very easy- and it’s even harder when the owner doesn’t even have it on the market to try and sell it.

I’m trying to stay positive that we will be able to rezone it and buy it. And now that I’ve actually seen the building I’m trying to not get overly excited and start planning our whole future in the space (that way if the owner doesn’t want to sell it, I won’t get too disappointed-I’m hoping).

I definitely will keep you all updated through the whole process!

Property Planning Process Part 1

Hey guys!

So I’m working on a remodel plan for the property Andy and I are going to try and buy. Let me just say finding the right software [that’s free to use] is proving to be a little bit harder than I expected.

There are so many different types of software available [both free and paid] for planning a remodeling project, but none that I have tried so far are fitting into what I need. Partially, I think, because I don’t know the exact [or even estimated] dimensions of the building. But I’m going to keep looking.

The way I’m thinking, is that if I can show a plan on what we want to do it might convince the owner a little to want to sell to us. Maybe, having a visual [kind of like when realtors stage homes for the prospective buyers to vision it with furniture inside] will work in our favor.

I don’t know.

I guess the point of this post is just for me to throw out my ideas [and I did in fact promise to keep you all in the lop through the whole process].

I’m also researching alternate power sources to try avoiding the normal form of getting electricity and maybe produce a lower power “bill”. Andy thought of a couple, but I’ve found one that might be even better [maybe, I’m still doing further research]. It’s called ‘biomass power’. It’s electricity made from renewable organic waste that would normally just be dumped into landfills, openly burned, or left for fodder for forest fires.

I’ve known that creating power from renewable waste was a thing, but I’ve never really looked into it before. I just assumed it was too much information to process at one time….and I think [now having looked into it] I was probably right. LOL.

This is feeling like it’s going to be one of the most stressful things I’ve ever worked on. But also [when it’s finished in the end- if it goes the way we plan] it will be one of the most amazing and rewarding projects I’ve ever been apart of.

Be sure to follow the blog category [Property Project] and our Podcast to stay in the loop with all the latest details and plans for this HUGE project.

Browsing The Market

Hey y’all!

So if you’ve been following alone, I mentioned a few posts back that we had found some property we were interested in and had even put in an offer on it. Well the property wasn’t for sale to begin with, but we fell in love with it and decided to try our luck anyway. Well, the owner (Andy’s boss) really just doesn’t want to see it right now.

So instead, we’re looking at the different houses he has available for sale, or that they’re fixing up and will be for sale soon. I totally understand why he doesn’t want to sell the building we were looking at, but it’s still kind of disappointing because I fell in love with it. But regardless, we still need to move to a bigger place than what we have now since we’ve outgrown it (and by “we’ve” I totally mean the kids’ toys…lol).

I know that basic kind of style house I’m looking for, but at the same time I’m seeing so many others that I like. I’ve never searched for a house to buy before, and I’ve never searched for a house big enough for a family of 4….so I’m kind of nervous and it definitely feels weird.

So if anyone has bought a house before and has any tips or tricks that would be super helpful, feel free to share them in the comments! And I’ll continue to keep y’all updated here and on the Podcast through the entire process!

Hey guys!

So I finally had to do it. I had to make my first large (actually HUGE) grocery haul by myself….and take both kids with me. Let me start out by saying I was fucking terried at first.

Not only did I have a bunch to get, but I would have both kids…oh and to top it off it’s snowing and icy outside today!

But I did. I trekked through our local Kroger with two carts and both kids in tow. I spent about 25% of the time in there chasing A.J through the aisles and listening anxiously to David crying (I was just waiting for someone to say something about me not being able to control either of the boys- but nobody ever did).

As you can see in the pictures above, our freezer and pantry are definitely stocked! In case you’re wondering why you don’t see those baulky packs of pork chops or chicken breasts, I always separate out our meat and put them in aluminum foil before putting them in the freezer. That way when I buy the large packs (10 pork chops or 8-10 pieces of chicken) I don’t thaw out too much for that night’s dinner and have a ton going to waste.

I’m super thankful for the associate at the store who helped me push one of my over filled carts to our van while I pushed the other cart, filled with groceries and two kids, and carried the hand basket filled with items.

To say it was a stressful and hard journey is putting it lightly. But it’s over now and everything has been put in its rightful spot.

I’m curious as to if any of you guys [whoever you are reading this] use a ton of coupons when you go shopping [I am obsessed with my couponing] and pre planned lists, or do most of you just seems to wing it when you get there? I personally feel more stressed if I’m at the store with no list or coupons [because I know I’ll forget something that we really need].

Star, Moon, & Ascendant Horoscope

Hey y’all!

So I’ve been super into horoscopes and stars alignments and astrology lately. I’m not really sure why, I’ve honestly never given it any thought before [and Andy says it’s just all b.s]. But I’ve been looking deeper into my own and I actually think it all describes me perfectly.

When it comes to horoscopes, we all have the one sign that we know we are, that’s called our “ascendant”. But, did you know you also have two other signs, a sun and a moon. They may not be the one you check everyday, if you’re into astrology.

I’m still learning about all of them, but I’m actually really enjoying the research and it’s been helping me relax at night. Instead of reading my entire horoscope first thing in the morning [because I know if I do that I’ll start basing my daily decisions from it and I’m just not there in the research yet], I read it at night as a way of reflecting on my day and its been helping me wind down and get ready for bed.

So if you’re not familiar with all three of your actual signs, I’ve listed them below with brief descriptions of each.

SUN:

The sun determines your ego, identity, and “role” in life. It’s the core of who you are, and is the sign you’re most likely to already know.

MOON:

The moon rules your emotions, moods, and feelings, This is likely the sign you most think of yourself as, since it reflects your personality wen you’re alone or deeply comfortable.

ASCENDANT (RISING):

Your ascendant is the “mask” you present to people. It can be seen in your personal style and how you come off to people when you first meet. Some say it becomes less relevant as you get older. It changes every two hours, so if it doesn’t make sense, text your mom [or dad] to confirm your birth time.

So for me:
I’m a Scorpio rising, Scorpio moon, and Virgo sun. So what exactly does that tell people about me?

Well, as a Scorpio rising, I come across as passionate, incisive, cunning, strategic, and perceptive. My intense and tenacious drive comes off as intimidating and powerful, if not malicious and aggressive.
Yep, that actually sounds about right, lol.

As a Scorpio moon, my emotional self is intense, passionate, and a bit dramatic. I have trouble opening up and letting other people in, and try to keep my intense darker emotions private. I find it difficult to trust others, which means my powers of perception may manifest in suspicion and controlling tendencies. Since it’s in my first house, I find security and safety through my self and self-image, also because it’s in my first house my moon in Scorpio is hyper-present in my personality.
I would normally try and deny this, but if you guys have learned or already knew anything about me, you know me denying this would nothing but extreme lies, lol.

As for my Virgo sun, I am particularly smart, responsible, hard-working, and self-sacrificing. I’m thorough, meticulous, and intention in everything I do- I can accomplish things that most people can’t, but may also get bogged down by the details of my day-to-day. I have a need to be wholesome. With it being in my tenth house, I feel the need to distinguish myself from others through goals, success, and responsibility.
Again, I’d try denying these things, but you all would probably call me out as a liar- with good reason and lots of evidence, lol.

Here I Sit At 5:00 A.M

Hey y’all!

Just like the title says, it’s 5:00 a.m. and for some reason I can’t turn off my body to get some sleep. I’m thinking it’s because I did nothing but sleep Wednesday and then I really didn’t do anything Thursday (other than the trip to the dentist) so I didn’t use up any energy.

My brain knows I need to sleep, since Andy’s going back to work today and I’ll be left alone with the kids…but I just can’t turn my body off and relax enough to sleep. Every time I almost get good and comfortable, my face will itch or start to hurt a little bit and then I’m pretty much wide awake again. It’s a horrible circle I’m stuck in.

I actually got both kids to sleep at a decent time last night which meant I could’ve went in our bedroom and actually slept with Andy…but I didn’t because I would’ve just kept him up all night with my tossing and turning. So I’ve been sitting here in the kids’ room watching reruns of Modern Family and looking up random things I’ve been curious to try for the blog or podcast.

Since I’m not getting any sleep tonight, I’m hoping that at least after lunch I can get both kids to take their nap at the same time [and that Junior will go down pretty easy for his nap] so then I can take one with them. Otherwise I’ll be up until regular bedtime around 1130/midnight (since it’s Friday A.J knows we stay up later).

Fuck you guys! How do you all turn off your insomnia and actually get a decent night’s sleep?? I swear it’s starting to seem like once or twice a week I’m staying up all night and day because I just can’t turn off my brain and my body won’t relax enough for me to pass out.

It’s to the point where I’m actually considering asking my doctor about some kind of sleep aid because I can’t get but so tired during the day since I have the kids…which means I HAVE to get a full nights sleep.

So if you guys have any tips, tricks, or even products that help you fall asleep on nights when your body doesn’t really want to relax let me now about them in the comments below! I’m dying to find something that could help me.

A Little Funny Story For Everyone

Hey y’all!

So while I was down yesterday from a toothache and an allergic reaction to the antibiotics (amoxicillin), Andy couldn’t find the charger for A.J’s tablet so he could watch his bedtime shows, so he let Junior watch them on my computer. Totally fine!

But when he opened my internet browser, he saw I had a site bookmarked on the bar that says “PORN”. So he clicked it…

He thought it was actually a porn website…Y’ALL!! IT WAS PINTEREST!

As y’all know, we’re working on trying to buy some property, so I’ve been on Pinterest a lot to plan out and get design ideas (plus I’ve been looking for recipes to change up our dinner menu). But now Andy thinks I’m a little crazy.

According to him, labeling it as “porn” is rude and very misleading..HAHA.

Now he says he doesn’t trust any of the labels I have in my bookmarks.

That was my little bit of humor from today’s shit show.

Do you guys label things “weird” when you bookmark them on your computer or phone??

XOXO

Well..This Is FANTASTIC!

Hey y’all!

So I’ve had a toothache for the past week and I was taking amoxicillin and ibuprofen until the dentist could see me for an appointment. Well the past two days my face has been swelling HORRIBLY! Andy and I thought that I had a horrible tooth infection or something going on. So the dentist could finally see me this morning, with my face looking like I swallowed a five pound bag of potatoes.

Well it turns out, that there is a little bit of infection in the tooth, but nowhere near enough to make it swell up like it has. Apparently, I’m allergic to amoxicillin. I did not know that, I’ve been taking it as an antibiotic my entire life.

But the dentist said that we can develop new allergies as we get older. So by taking the amoxicillin, thinking I was doing something good to help a little bit, I was actually doing myself more harm.

So now I have a different antibiotic and he wrote me a prescription for some other pain medication, and that’s supposed to get rid of the infection and swelling until I get to the dentist again and can get the tooth pulled. I’m also on Benadryl for the allergic reaction.

You guys!!! I did not need another thing I’m allergic too- there’s already a book of things.

But that’s been my week 🙂 Hopefully yours is going much better.

XOXO
